Durham, NC, September 18th, 2017. Latino Community Credit Union (LCCU) successfully concluded a fundraising campaign seeking to donate mattresses and appliances to Inter-Faith Council for Social Service, a non-profit organization that serves the Carrboro and Chapel Hill community helping people in need achieve their goals by providing information, support and access to resources.
IFC works hard to overcome the social and economic barriers that prevent individuals and families from achieving their goals. Their vision is to assist and support people through staff-volunteer partnerships, congregations, caring individuals and other community organizations. They offer a wide variety of resources that include their Food pantry, Community Kitchen, Community House, and Home Start entities that aid homeless people and or families who are gravely struggling without a home.
During the campaign, for every dollar donated by an employee, LCCU matched dollar for dollar. This joint effort resulted in $7,026.43, which was awarded to IFC during a small ceremony attended by a group of LCCU employees, IFC executive director, Jackie Jenks, IFC Residential Services Director, Stephani Kilpatrick, and IFC Community Service Director, Kristin Lavergne, among others.
At LCCU we believe in forming relationships with other non-profit organizations who also share similar values in empowering our local communities. This contribution is yet another example of LCCU’s commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
