LCDC
Latino Community Development Center (LCDC)
The Latino Community Development Center (LCDC) is a nonprofit membership based organization created in 2002, which is dedicated to promote financial literacy, access to financial services, and economic development for the low income immigrant Latino/Hispanic population in North Carolina.
LCDC & LCCU
LCDC is the sponsor organization of the Latino Community Credit Union and its members have the right to use all the services that the Latino financial institution offers in several counties of the state. LCDC partners with the credit union to bring financial services to low income Hispanics, providing savings, money transfers, financial education and low interest loans in the largest metropolitan areas of the state.
We firmly believe that financial literacy is only productive when there are affordable and accessible financial products and services available for use. Therefore, LCDC accomplishes its mission through close coordination and a combined management structure with Latino Community Credit Union (LCCU), a community-based and member-owned non-profit financial institution that provides protection of financial assets, access to loans, financial independence and financial education. To become a member of the credit union, one must become a member of LCDC.
Financial Education
One of the main programs of the LCDC is the series of financial education workshops given in Spanish. The workshops are held at Latino Community Credit Union branches, and the sessions are free and open to the entire community.
