Protect Yourself

Fraud and financial scams are becoming more common, making headlines now more than ever. At LCCU, our dedicated team works tirelessly to protect your interests, but the best defense starts with awareness and education. Stay informed and take proactive steps to protect yourself and those you care about from falling victim to scams.

Information We Will Never Ask For

If someone is requesting this information, they are likely an imposter attempting to steal your personal data. Stay vigilant and always be cautious with your information!

  • Your PIN Number or four-digit code you use for debit/credit purchases or at an ATM. We will never ask for it, always shield the keypad when entering your PIN.
  • Your CVV Code or three-digit security code on the back of your card is for your use only. We won’t request it from you.
  • If you use Multi-Factor Authentication (which we highly recommend), we will never ask for your MFA verification code received by phone, text, or email.
  • Your LatinoConnect Username and Password are yours alone. If you forget them, you can easily reset them without our help. Learn more about forgot password/username.
  • Since we issued your Member ID and Account Number, we don’t need you to provide the full details.
  • We already have your Credit or Debit Card Number and will never ask you to verify the entire number.

If you ever receive a request for any of the above, do not share your information and please notify your local LCCU branch or our Member Service Center at 919-595-1800 immediately.

As a member of LCCU, you have access to several security features to help protect your accounts and personal information. Here’s how you can use them effectively:

  • Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for an extra layer of security when accessing LatinoConnect. This feature requires a unique code sent to your registered device, ensuring only you can log in.
  • Enable Biometrics on your mobile device such as fingerprints, facial recognition, iris scans, etc. to enhance the security on your online access.
  • Register Your Device during your first login for future device recognition.
  • Set Up Real-Time Alerts via email or text to monitor account activity, such as large transactions, login attempts, or changes to your profile. These notifications help you detect and respond to suspicious activity quickly.
  • Get instant Card Transaction Alerts when your debit or credit card is used for purchases, ATM withdrawals, or online transactions. If you receive an alert for an unrecognized transaction, block your card.
  • Stay informed about potential threats with automated Fraud Alerts. If suspicious activity is detected, you may receive a notification requesting verification to prevent unauthorized transactions.

By taking advantage of these security features, you can enhance your account protection and reduce the risk of fraud. Stay vigilant and review your settings regularly to ensure maximum security.
