Durham, NC, June 10th, 2023 – Latino Community Credit Union is proud to announce Vicky Garcia as its new President and CEO, effective June 10, 2023. She succeeds Luis Pastor who led the credit union since 2001.

Vicky first joined LCCU as a volunteer in 2001 and later as a staff member in 2003. From the start, she has been key to the credit union’s growth and success. She has served in multiple roles, including Branch Manager, Director of Lending, VP of Operations, SVP of Strategic Initiatives and Risk Management, and most recently Interim CEO. Vicky holds a B.S. in Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia and an M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Before joining LCCU, Vicky worked in the banking sector in her native Colombia for eight years, providing an important perspective to her work at LCCU. Vicky has also served on the board of Self-Help Credit Union, Museum of Durham History, and Habitat for Humanity of Durham.

“The LCCU Board has great faith in Vicky’s leadership abilities, her industry knowledge, and her strategic mindset which will help us effectively meet the challenges ahead and seize the opportunities we see in the marketplace” said LCCU Board Chair, David Brehmer.

Vicky’s selection concludes a national search for its next President and CEO lead by the LCCU Board with support from an outside firm. “During our thorough search, we considered many strong candidates, however, in the end, we found that the person we needed to lead the organization was already here. Vicky not only has the experience we need the catapult our credit union into its next phase, she understands our credit union’s culture and its unique role in the community as well as anyone.”

“I’m so proud to be named the next President and CEO of this amazing credit union. As we continue to grow, I look forward to working with our board and our talented and committed staff to make sure that our members have access to the economic opportunity they need and deserve to invest in their talent and dreams,” said Vicky.
