On August 18\u00ba<\/sup> LCCU culminated its first scholarship program with a special ceremony recognizing this year\u2019s winners. Five out of the ten recipients were present, along with their families, and members of the executive team and selection committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese scholarships are not a donation, but rather an investment that LCCU is making in each one of you, since you are the future of our country. From the very beginning our mission has been to offer products that meet the needs of our membership, that is how we started off by offering a safe place for your money and now we want to offer you the chance to follow your dreams and graduate college,\u201d said Luis Pastor, CEO, to the attendees.<\/p>\n

LCCU announced last June 1s<\/sup> that every time a member uses a debit card, LCCU will direct a percentage of the earnings to this scholarship fund, which will provide a scholarship to start, continue, or finish studies for those members that apply and are selected according to the requirements. During the first year of the program, LCCU awarded 10 scholarships for a total of $25,000.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this new program we wish to show our members that we support their economic development and their participation in creating an economically sustainable community, developing through their hard work. We hope that this amount dedicated to education keeps growing as we all continue to work together for our youth,\u201d stated Pastor.<\/p>\n
